Tree-cide in Stoughton
"This is a conservation area?"

What happened to this white pine at the Bird Street Conservation Area in Stoughton?

Hmmm. It appears to be an epidemic. In fact, there are nine fallen trees in the "quarry" area.

It sure wasn't done by a woodpecker! Those are bullet holes.

The white plastic thing is a wad from a 12 ga. shotgun shell. I guess slugs are more efficient than 9mm Luger and .40 cal. pistol rounds and the .22 cal. and .223 rifle rounds (based on the empties). Must have been quite a battle up there. Guess the trees lost.
